Gran Canaria as well as all the other canary islands, is a volcanic island. The island, as it is ...today, has been formed in several phases, during several centuries. Some thousand years ago,in the north-east side of the island, several, mostly smaller volcano eruptions have changed the surface of the island. Therefore , this side of the island really shows us the specific character of a volcano island ...with his specific volcano soil. Today we go to visit the biggest volcano crater of Gran Canaria ....on foot !

The barranco de los cernícalos, not far from the city of Telde, in the northeast of Gran Canaria, is one of the few areas, one of the few clefts, where we still can find a wild running, small mountain river with his typical small natural waterfalls the whole year round ! Because of the humidity a real "jungle-like" vegetation ....is waiting for us.
